Pulse Jet
I have another high speed video of this jam jar pulse jet. It shows the jet in emitted light. This video shows it by transmitted light in a schlieren system. Since the schlieren shows both turbulence and heat, there is quite a bit of chaos.
One fine point in the video. When the pulse really gets going it generates thrust just like the old V1 buzz bombs used by the Germans in World War II. That thrust shifts the position of my mirror support and thus the focus of the mirror on my schlieren stop. This is why the colors are changing during the pulse sequence.
