Cape Tryon (Old) Lighthouse, PE

Rain and fog day.

The Cape Tryon Lighthouse was put into operation in 1905. It was automated in 1962 and then quickly replaced by the current Cape Tryon Lighthouse later the same year. It was purchased in 1964 and since has been restored and used as a home and has been moved several times. Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of "Anne of Green Gables" and numerous other works set on Prince Edward Island, is believed to have used the light as the basis for the Four Winds Lighthouse in her novel "House of Dreams" published in 1909.
