Out of Hibernation. Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly, Aglais urticae, Driemond, The Netherlands

Our Butterfly doesn't migrate for the Winter but rather hibernates in woodpiles and such. In today's bright weather its family is fluttering out in full force. I didn't yet see any of its caterpillars on their favorite plants, the stinging nettle (Urtica). No doubt they'll soon be there. Here Tortoiseshell is sucking nectar on Common Dogwood, Cornus sanguineum.
