Traipsing back to where I'm staying here on Lombok the air was pungent with the smell of drying cloves. Soon I came upon plastic sheets on which the flowers - shaped like nails - were being dessicated. I asked the farmer for the going price: he said about 100,000 idr per kilo. Cloves are much favored here for cigarettes called 'kretek'.
The scenery is quite pretty: among the hills are Bukit Lekotangkot and Bukit Landangluar.
