Silver Spring. Ornithogalum nutans, Neapolitan Star of Bethlehem, Gaasperpark, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Carolus Clusius (1526-1609) is, I think, the first to have in 1601 described our plant fully. He says he received it from a pharmacist friend in Naples, hence its common name. Soon it was naturalised in the Low Countries, but I don't recall having seen it before my little hike in the Gaasperpark this morning. The Star is quite striking because you don't often see silver or gray flowers. Quite pretty!
