Winter PJs. Episyrphus balteatus, Marmalade Hoverfly, on Fortune's Spindle, Euonymus fortunei, Our Garden, Venlo, The Netherlands

It's a winter's day with a bright blue sky and though the Sun is low there's a bit of warmth in is rays. Enough anyway to bring our our pretty Marmalade Hoverfly, Episyrphus balteatus. Here she's sunbathing on variegated Fortune's Spindle, Euonymus fortunei. One of Insect's Dutch names is Pyamazweefvlieg, another Snorzweefvlieg (Moustache Hoverfly). Temperatures here hovered just below 7C, and I suppose that's just warm enough for PJs outdoors.
