Anthurium andreanum. The Conservatory, Taman Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

No, Anthurium has never really been a favorite of mine. Somehow I never liked the shining, almost plastic spathe, and I only got to be interested in the spadix when I once examined its hermaphrodite flowers with a magnifying glass.

But today I walked in The Conservatory of the Taman Tasik Perdana - that wonderful Park of Lakes in central Kuala Lumpur - waiting for my transfer to Europe. And it rained... What that shower did to Anthurium this photo shows.

In fact, I am surprised the red came out so well on my little Sony T900 microchip. Usually reds are quite a problem.

Anthurium is also, of course, called the Flamingo Flower; and my thoughts were pulled to many wonderful hours of birdwatching in the Oued Souss just to the south of Agadir in southern Morocco... A thing of the past for now the beach way between Town and Oued has been closed by the Royal Palace. More's the pity.

Now am on the way back to The Netherlands, and for the coming time my postings will be from there, although the photos may be from 'here'.
