Nectareous Succulence. Echeveria ssp., Oude Hortus, Utrecht, The Netherlands

On my way South I detoured through Utrecht to look at the pretty, historical Oude Hortus, formerly the University Botanical Garden, dating back to the seventeenth century. It's always a delight to walk here in rain or shine. As it happened there was a downpour and I sought quick dry refuge in the small glass house.

Here's Echeveria. I'm not sure which one; there are lots of varieties of this wonderful succulent hailing from Mexico (see my earlier: www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/5203820395/in/photolis...). This time I was lucky to see its very fine nectar production; just look at the flood of it! Indeed, though it's probably against the rules, I touched and tasted, and felt a bit like Eve and Adam indulging in forbidden Sweet.
