Heavenly Bright. Dianthus armeria, Grass Pink, Groningen, The Netherlands

Just beyond the so-called 'Diepenring' - the canal surrounding the inner city of Groningen - there's a barren piece of land. It's meant for the construction of something to do with the ever expanding university hospital or with student-living. It's been a vacant lot now for a couple of years.

Lots of wild flowers there, and also escapees from Proper Gardens. Looking for Bumblebees today I was intrigued instead by a nice patch of a kind of Carnation or more precisely a Pink. Here's Dianthus armeria, Grass Pink. It glowed so brightly even in the occluded Sun that I had to blink again and again...
