National Warehouse is a complex of old brick industrial / warehouse buildings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is located at the intersection of South Water Street and an isolated leg of Bruce Street, in the Walkers Point / Fifth Ward area. A spur on the west side still sees active rail service, and other out-of-service tracks wind through the complex. Union Pacific has several other active tracks to the west and north, used for local switching and storage. This Union Pacific trackage was the route to the CNW lakefront Milwaukee station, across the nearby Milwaukee River swing bridge.
A Golden West Service boxcar (but with SSW reporting marks) was spotted at the loading dock on the west side of the complex in May 2010. Not sure what is typically shipped in and/or out. This kind of railroading (single breakbulk boxcar loads spotted at warehouse and dock sidings) has mostly disappeared, but hangs on here at National Warehouse.
