Durgerdam, ± 1775

Detail of a coloured pendrawing of the western part of Durgerdam with the old and vanished harbour. This very rare drawing by an amateur artist is in a privat collection. (features: 130 x 34 cm)

The elm trees on the dyke have been there until the year 1920. The Dutch writer Nescio has discribed them in one of his famous short stories, called: Buiten IJ. Maybe we can recreate in the future this beautiful green touch to our historic village.
