Benson Bubbler

One of Portland's freeflowing drinking fountain captured for Looking close... on Friday! theme: Let it flow!

In 1912, $10,000 for the fountains was donated to the City of Portland by lumber baron, Simon Benson, in hopes that it would keep his lumberjacks out of the saloons. Not sure if it worked for that purpose, but the citizens of and visitors to Portland have enjoyed them for over 100 years.
