The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Cumberland rapid transit station, bus terminal and Park and Ride. This modernist glass, steel and concrete station was designed by the architecture firm Perkins and Will. It opened in 1983 as part of the Blue Line rail extension to O'Hare Airport, which the Blue Line would reach in 1984.
This is the glass elevator house for the parking structure.
The Cumberland rapid transit ("L" / subway) station is located in the median of Interstate 90 (the Kennedy Expressway), and the station’s island platform is reached by enclosed pedestrian skybridges from either side of the freeway.
