mutton busting, gunnysack races, three legged races, blindfolded wheelbarrow races, chicken round up, egg toss,

with a tug of war grand finale - girls against boys.

 

oh, and the new one this year: a whole mess of the bigger kids chasing after a few calves to grab one of the ribbons tied around their tails.

i turned a blind eye to e's request to join in even though he's a few months shy of too young to qualify for the 11+ category, warning him just not to get hurt,

and then he nabbed one of the ribbons.
