sunday best

wandering off from the crowd,

scouting for huckleberries (this high in elevation they don't ripen for another few weeks),

finding a few early ones, enough to fill a shirt pocket,

and a carpeting of wild strawberries.

it was all i could do to make myself turn around

and not keep walking down that trail.
