sneaky smoothie
our kids are pretty easy on us.
there, i said it.
not that they always have been quite so,
but they sure are now,
and have been for several years.
they really are just so very mellow and easygoing
helpful around here for the most part - at least when we ask them to be,
they generally take things in stride.
and they like to eat most things put before them without complaint,
except raisins...but they're coming around even when it comes that.
sure, they each have a few likes and dislikes when it comes to food.
one doesn't like canteloupe but likes grapefruit,
the other, it's no artichokes nor avocado.
one loves granola. the other loves oatmeal.
they both would probably prefer boxed cereal.
most other kids think we eat weird food.
my kids don't blink an eye when they see me putting greens in a smoothie.
it's as normal as anything else around here.
the other day i just couldn't help myself when the nephews were over.
i did it. i snuck a lot of spinach and kale into a smoothie when they weren't looking.
of course, it was fully disguised within the deep purple mix of frozen huckleberries, blackberries, and bananas with canned peaches and raw milk.
if they'd known, i'm sure they wouldn't have even tried it.
they usually look skeptically at any food i offer (and apparently with good reason!).
this time, they lined up with their cups and straws at the ready
and sucked their smoothies down with gusto.
heh, heh.
evil auntie that i am.
