catch & release

he'd already caught and roasted a smaller rainbow on a stick over the fire for lunch,

and we had plenty for dinner already,

so he let this big rainbow go.

not the easiest of decisions but a really nice moment, holding it like this, alive,

before releasing it and watching it swim away.

 

a few minutes later he caught an even bigger cutthroat, that you can't keep, and so let that one go as well.
