hawthorne: quite an array
while i don't entirely understand all the results, i am quite pleased!
starting at bottom left and going clockwise:
the greenish yellow was my initial small trial (twigs, berries, and leaves)
the green was with a small amount of homemade iron mordant added to the above afterbath.
i then went back to harvest more for a larger dyebath resulting in:
surprise! a peachy orange with pink hues (twigs, berries, leaves) what?
iron was added to the afterbath resulting in warm light browns.
there had been some extra dye that i'd set aside from the big batch that had produced that orange so, a few days later, i popped some wool in, brought it to a simmer and came up with something more akin to my original trials, a yellowish green. no orange. huh?
extra twigs and branches were cut up resulting in PINK!
then, a glug of ammonia went into the final twig dyebath resulting in a very light, slightly purplish grey color.
