one lonely duck
did i mention a duck? i don't think so.
there were actually seven.
this one was the runt, was attacked by a mama hen to near death.
we nursed it back to health under a milk crate by the front door.
meanwhile the other six vanished quickly when when we first let them out into the yard,
possibly eaten by either our own dogs, hawks, or otherwise.
it's possible that they just swam downstream and kept on going...
anyways, this is our one lonely duck,
now living in the garden and orchard.
he/she was terribly reclusive and silent at first after being separated from the others.
now he/she greets me when i go out to the garden,
still a little skittish.
