Shepperton Station 21-4-1982.

A class 508 slipped through Shepperton Station and collided with the buffers. The previous night the Shepperton line was being used for rail adhesion testing and the liquid applied to the tracks for test purposes was not washed off. Class 508s used their traction motors to help with braking down to 6mph. These were disconnected because of wear on the motors. So the train was relying solely on disc brakes.
