Lees Moor Tunnel August 1991

If the roof lighting in Lees Moor Tunnel was strange the sight that greeted us when we rounded the curve to the northern portal was downright bizarre. The entire portal was enclosed in a prefabricated structure & the tunnel walls covered with polythene sheeting, we exited the red door & examined the structure from the outside then made our way back inside to return from whence we came. I've since found out this is or was a carvan storage & repair facility although I'm not sure I would want any caravan of mine stored in a damp tunnel . . .
