37013 & a grubby rake of MkIs arrive at a well turned out Boston with 1D15, the 1615 SO additional service from Skegness to Grantham on 12th September 1987. The train ran for the last time officially the previous week so this was quite unexpected until the gen came out in the early hours & the train also ran unofficially the following Saturday. By that time I was already on my way to Aberystwyth on the 0010 ex Euston behind 37431 & pilot loco 37251 which came off at Machynlleth-hence the cross-country leap.
