Mas Makers Massive

Led by Stephen and Colleen Tiffenson, Mas Makers Massive is the Bay Area's formost carnival arts folk performance company. A participant in San Francisco Carnaval since its inception, Mas Makers Massive's brilliantly-clad masquerades dance to pulsating Soca rhythms distinguished by their trademark 18-foot dancing puppets. This group has been a consistent crowd favorite in the parade. Based in Oakland, this group portrays the carnival traditions of costume, music, and dance, indigenous to the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. This year's theme is "Flights of Fancy," portraying the traditional fancy sailor character, with elegant wings attached to harem-style costumes.
