Shooting in mono is a pretty steep learning curve for me. Without the distraction of colour to disguise all the usual flaws in an image, everything is pretty much laid bare. And as a photographer who has often used colour to hide a whole multitude of problems from the viewer, I’m finding my journey into the dark side really challenging- from having to think much more carefully about composition to learning a whole new set of processing skills.
Shot at 630 seconds, this is one of the few images where I’ve had a problem with sensor noise at base ISO and I’m not sure why. It was a cold and damp morning so it shouldn’t be a thermal issue- I’ve shot 20 minute exposures in the summer and haven’t seen this before. But I have recently dropped the camera into a lake and although it seems to work ok, maybe I’ve done something bad to it.
I’ve cleaned the image up as best I can and hope you enjoy it.
Have a lovely week, Flickrites and thanks for all your support.
