SEC Victoria - Proposed Lyndhurst Terminal Station
Old sign for a long-abandoned proposal to build an electricity terminal station at Thompson Road, Lyndhurst, west of Dandenong-Hastongs Road, now Western Port Highway by the former State Electricity Commission (SEC) of Victoria.
The completion of a 500 kV transmission line to the nearby terminal station site at Cranbourne (duplicated in the late 1980's) saw that site upgraded with this proposal soon abandoned. The state-owned SEC took over a number of private and municipal power generators and distributors in the 1920's and 30's and continued until break up and ultimate privatisation by the Kennett Government in the 1990s creating a number of distribution, retail and generation companies as well as a single transmission company in Victoria.
