Spotted Sandpiper (Actitis macularius) Mission Creek, Kelowna, BC.

 

The sandpipers were the most cooperative I'd ever seen them — for two days running, so I had no choice but to document what I was seeing.

 

This extended set shows a couple performing not in the sand but on a narrow branch. Amazing feats — er, feet, perhaps — of balance, all the while providing a running monologue in Sandpiperese about the trials and tribulations of being a Cirque de Nature (Nah-CHOOR) performer.... The best shots are in the middle this time, I think....
