Mere at Delamere

Delamere Forest in Cheshire is an interesting working forest. This shot is of one of the small meres in the forest which is a haven for wildlife. The word 'Mere' is interesting in itself and seems to be derived via this route - Old English, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch meer ‘lake’ and German Meer ‘sea’, from an Indo-European root shared by Russian more and Latin mare.
