Former hospital building on Kungu Street in Old Town of Riga, Latvia. April 21, 2022
The origins of St. George's Hospital can be traced back to the 13th century in the days of Bishop Albert. The hospital building at 34 Kungu Street was built in 1845, according to the design of architect Johann Daniel Felsko (1813 - 1902). The relief is believed to have an older origin and was found on the facade of a previous hospital building, as the hospital has relocated many times and its older buildings have been destroyed.
