Spire of Old St.Gertrude church in central Riga, Latvia. February 5, 2016

An outstanding neo-Gothic monument and one of the most magnificent buildings by architect J. D. Felsko is the Riga Old St. Gertrude Evangelical Lutheran Church at 8 Gertrūdes Street (1863-1869). The red brick building features many filigree details of Gothic are cast in cement. The tower was crowned by a pyramidal spire dressed in chaparral. The church has three naves and a transept. The window openings have stained-glass windows depicting various biblical themes. Several of them were made in 1907, in the workshop of the Riga stained glass master E. Tode.
