Box Hill circuit

In Cycling, the 2012 Olympics Men's Road Race took place on a 250 km. course starting and finishing on The Mall. This included 9 laps of a 16 km. circuit around Box Hill in Surrey. An area of National Trust parkland was cordoned off and 15,000 tickets sold for prime viewing within that area. Tens of thousands of spectators lined the remainder of the Box Hill circuit to view the riders flash past 9 times without paying.
