Garlic flatbread ... Mary Berry recipe

Ingredients

 

175 grams Self Raising Flour

½ teaspoon Sea Salt

1 Egg

70 ml milk

75 grams very soft Butter

4 cloves well crushed Garlic

2 tablespoons very finely chopped Parsley

Salt and Pepper

Finely grated Cheese preferably Parmesan

 

Method

 

1.Preheat oven 200° fan, 220° C, Gas 7.

2.Put metal baking sheet in oven to get really hot (towards top).

3.Sieve flour and salt into a mixing bowl.

4.Add egg and sufficient milk to bring mixture together mixing with a knife (all milk may not be necessary).

5.When starting to come together use hands to lightly bring to a dough.

6.Knead lightly on a floured surface until smooth.

7.Roll out very thinly on a sheet of non-stick parchment so it can be turned round making sure that you only roll away from your body and that rolling pin is clean and floured at all times. Use short sharp rolls, do NOT press down hard.

8.Mix together garlic, butter, salt and pepper to form a paste and spread evenly over dough.

9.Sprinkle over parsley then cheese.

10.Slide paper onto hot baking tray and bake approximately 12 minutes.
