Too many cooks in my kitchen
Day 96 of an Unknown Number
"Too Many Cooks in My Kitchen"
So, I thought it might be interesting to photograph something through the tiny magnifier on my magnifying glass. I tried my finger, then a quarter. It was interesting...but not very interesting. Then I decided to skip the magnifying glass, and just employ my macro extension tubes. Then I brought in the leaf. The veins and structure looked rather nice against the black background. It was then decided that a drip of blood might add something to the image. I then went another direction, but it was too late to remove the blood. I then thought it could be fun to shoot a light through a comb. What would it look like? I didn't know until I tried. I angled the teeth of the comb to line up with the gridded strobe, as I needed to make sure that enough light got through to backlight the leaf. Because the backlit drop of blood lost all depth and dimension, I brought in a ringlight at the last moment. It clearly provides the circle of light in the drip. Because of the extremely shallow depth of field, I made a point to focus on the veins of the leaf, and let the blood drop go soft. So many ideas....such a little brain. Thanks for dripping by!!
