Drosera Binata

Day 59 of an Unknown Number

"Drosera Binata"

As I searched for today's subject, I spotted one of my sundews on the windowsill. For those of you unfamiliar with the drosera, it is a carnivorous plant which uses sticky leaves to wrap around their prey, and slowly digest the buggy goodness. Technically, the leaves are covered with tentacles which have a gland that produces a sticky mucilage. Insects spot the glistening dew (mistaking it for nectar), land on the leafs, and are slowly coiled and eaten. Fun stuff!! I digest. Anyway, I went with one light for this set up. There is a strobe directly above our friend, and it has a modifier attached. It is a simple dish, and was used to confine the light to just the area above our subject. Nature is beautiful......even when it enjoys some meat on the plate. Thanks for flying by!!
