Lucy - stranger 281/300
Em-Con 2022 in Nottingham gave me an opportunity to approach people dressed in fantastic outfits for my stranger project.
I saw Lucy chatting with a couple of friends and her outfit really stood out to me, so I went over and introduced the project to her and she agreed to being photographed immediately. Em-Con is held at the Motorpoint Arena and doesn’t really offer any decent backgrounds, but there was a display of Cameros from the Transformer movies outside and they had put up a large black gazebo with sides. This made for a perfect background. The sun was almost directly above and it provided some great rim lighting on Lucy. There was a tree next to us, and the light coming through its leaves gave Lucy’s hair a green cast, but this was easy to correct during the processing of the photograph. I think the black backdrop almost gives this image the feel of having been taken in a studio.
Lucy is from Nottingham and her character is Thena from the Eternals. Lucy said she appeals because she’s goddess like.
Lucy works in recruitment and told me it makes her feel like she’s recruiting her own band of superheroes.
When not working Lucy enjoys the cosplay scene, watching films, walking, going to the gym and listening to music from The Cure and The Smiths. Lucy also said she likes to draw, mainly doing character studies.
Lucy’s guilty pleasure is dressing up.
The single word Lucy would use to describe herself is flamboyant.
Lucy said the one thing she can’t live without is cheese.
