Holly - stranger 154/200

Finding myself in Nottingham on the day the Pride parade took to the streets I found the city centre to be packed with people, so many it was virtually impossible to find space to photograph anyone. At one point two girls passed me and I noticed the spectacular glasses one was wearing so dived in to see if I could photograph her for the stranger project.

With so many people bustling around us we managed to squeeze into a shop doorway and it gave me just enough room to take a couple of pictures. I asked Holly to hold her flag up because I thought it would be a great backdrop and it also concealed the items on display in the window. I would have preferred a location without direct sunlight but being in such a packed area it was either take the image where you were or not at all.

I asked Holly how long it had taken to apply her face make-up and she said about one hour. I particular liked how well she’d matched the colours to those of her glasses.

Holly had just begun her summer break but would begin studying engineering when she resumed her education in the autumn. Holly told me she makes a bit of money selling Rubik’s Cubes. In her spare-time she enjoys hanging around with her friends.

I asked Holly who her first star crush had been on and she said Sharpay Evans (actress Ashley Tisdale) in High School Musical films.

Holly told me the one thing she couldn’t live without was Tumblr.

Thank-you so much for agreeing to be photographed for my stranger project Holly, and I hope you like your portrait.

This picture is #154 in the 100 Strangers project, yes, I’m doing a second 100. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
