le Petit Boucher
The Little Butcher, Thick-billed Shrike (juvenile).
Handheld with E-M1 Mk2 + Lumix 100-300mm.
It's been a while since I shot any birds, need to dust off the rust!
Olympus released a major firmware update this year for this 3yo model with many useful features straight from the company's flagship E-M1X especially in the AF.
Having bought the E-M1 Mk2 only recently, I'm still in the familiarization phase, just spent many hours figuring out the features and configuring it, especially the C1-C3 custom modes. I wished the custom modes can be assigned to buttons instead of the top wheel for faster access via muscle memory. Olympus' rather unconventional nomenclature in their E-M1 Mk2 menu is a bit of a PITA.
So far CAF seems inconsistent in burst, could be due to my old lens but may very well be new user error.
Really wished Olympus would bring out a 100-400mm zoom like what Panasonic has, soon. No need for weather sealing, keep the weight down (under 1kg) because Olympus has the best ultrasonic sensor cleaning function in the business (the only one that actually works!) and besides, what birds can one shoot in the rain? There does seem to be such a lens (non "Pro") on their roadmap. learnandsupport.getolympus.com/development-announcements
The E-M1X has Handheld High Resolution (HHHR) mode, would love this feature for shooting birds! HHHR with a lightweight 100-400mm zoom will be a killer combo for birds on a perch!
