Philadelphia Vireo i.d. picture

eBird rarity, late observation, fist ever October record submitted to eBird for Ottawa County, SF

It is getting a bit late for this lovely Philadelphia Vireo to head south. This species of vireo has usually completed its migration through the Ottawa Valley by the end of September. Most likely, the pleasant fall weather we are experiencing was an enticement to dawdle.

The front and underside of this bird were of a particular lemony yellow when viewed at close range through binoculars; the bird also exhibited well the black eye-line and dark primary coverts typical of the species.
