i hafta say that i have a soft side for american porter, brown and it doesn't reflect in my review...
this is a good beer...
of all things the inital maple flavor stood out, but i'm really glad it didn't dominate, malts carried this beer thru very well, and it has a slight hoppy bitterness, for a 50 ibu beer I would have expected more, but oak chips tend to suck the life out of the hops... it's just their nature...
the oak I thought was the weakest thing about this, could have used more to give it more of a presence, the maple was too one sided on the opposite end for aroma but not for taste... which was awesomesauce wrapped in bacon.
the aftertaste had a lingering hop presence, but when paired with food it wasn't there...
this beer should be entered into competition... imo.
