Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening...

Two minutes before this was taken I had been sheltering in the car from a severe thunderstorm at Plawsworth. This was The Hadrian of 28th July 2018, a Leicester to Leicester round trip with steam haulage from Hellifield to York via the S&C, Tyne Valley line and ECML, running here as 1Z48, with 35018 British India Line. Despite the Class 37 working hard due to fire risk! the MN managed to produce some exhaust.

The lighting conditions were truly dreadful, but since I was there I had a go anyway, I had hoped for a better shot, but the awful weather conditions prevented it. At least it had stopped raining about one minute before the train arrived.

Was this the first Merchant Navy to traverse this route since 35026 Lamport and Holt Line in October 1966?
