Taking the freight line
On 22nd May 1986 the 16:03 Liverpool to Newcastle service, 1E88 takes the slow line via Tyne Yard at Ouston Junction in the capable hands of 45126. The shadows are now very long, this was the final shot of the day. The locomotive is rather grimy with mainly deposits from the brake blocks, apparently the Class 45s had quite an appetite for them on TP duties, a mix of a large number of station stops, high speeds on the ECML, the gradients of the Standedge route and the high weight of the locomotive
