Mayan Stucco Facade at Ek Balam
The entrance to the tomb of Ukit Kan Le'k Tok' at Ek Balam. This was the founding king of Ek Balam. Notice the entrance is in the form of a serpent's mouth (some sources say jaguar). This is by far the best preserved Mayan stucco I have seen at any site (Chichen Itza, Coba, Tulum, Tikal, Palenque, Yaxchilan, Bonampak). I wish it would have photographed for me better. According to our guide, the Maya carefully buried it accounting for it's remarkably intact condition when it was excavated.
