The Grade I listed parish church of Launceston, a former county capital, is St Mary Magdalene. The nave is muach uplifted by the white painted vaulting. St Mary Magdalene is famous for its carved granite facade which exists nowhere else in England. There's a famously ornate 1911 carved oak screen by Rashleigh Pinwell of Plymouth. Widely regarded as the most spectacular late medieval church in Cornwall.
