Castell Coch

This is the outline of Castell Coch. In rebuilding the medieval ruins Burges respected the original mass, adding his own touches to enhance the romanticised picture-book appearance. The castle was intended to be an occasional summer residence for the Bute family and work began in 1875 and carried on until 1891, some ten years after Burges’s death.
