CSX 2002

This is the first Cobra race car and was the third Cobra built. This was the car that launched the racing campaign that eventually culminated in Shelby American winning the World Manufacturer’s Championship in 1965. CSX 2002 made its debut at Riverside in October of 1962 driven by Bill Krause. The car was a DNF in its only 2 outings in 1962 at Riverside and Nassau. Dan Gurney drove it at Daytona in 1963 where it was again a DNF. Ken Miles scored a 2nd place finish in A/P at the SCCA national held at Dodger Stadium. Ken Miles and Lew Spencer drove the car at Sebring and had another DNF. Dave McDonald scored a win in SCCA A/P at Tuson and Ken Miles finished 2nd at Delmar. During its time as a race car CSX 2002 was a rolling testbed for all future street and race Cobras. (Courtesy of the Larry H.
