Speeding into fall
...I was just trying to keep my panning skills fresh, but I learned to things. Although these things are not knew this experience hammered them home.
1. Background is key to a nice panning shot. Here the blurred yellow fall trees had a nice athmosphere and contrast to the black Merc.
2. Cars at low speed are easy to pan (i.e. they are easy to get sharp), but they tend to be less interesting. Why? You get less wheel spin. Although I got decent background blur in most of these shots, it hardly seems like the wheels were going around. Given that most of these cars were barely going 20 mph that is no surprise.
Taken on Port Imperial Blvd in Edgewater, NJ.
