Chaos city
...I spent 3 months living in NYC in 2000 while interning for a major US investment bank. One of my impressions of New York City was of chaos, activity, excitement and neglect. Nothing seems to have changed much and this picture illustrates it perfectly.
This is Times Square (or part of it at least). Is it impeccable? Is it perfect? Not even close. There is construction in the middle, the manhole is smoking, there is a crane of two putting stuff up, there are lots of traffic cones, taxis are everywhere. The place is noisy, boisterous, dirty, but thrilling, exciting and unique. It is so full of life and speed. It is part of what makes New York City what it is. I like how this shot captures that.
