Photo of my mind

When I first heard that we had to take a self portrait I had no idea what to do. But then I started to think. How would I take a picture that represents me?

When I started to think I had a few different ideas. One idea I had was to take a picture of me and pictures in the background. But I didn’t really like the idea that much, because it felt very simple and a bit boring. But then I came up with this idea. I had to take a picture of who I am, so why not just take a picture of what is going on inside my head? The original idea was to take a picture like this but with pictures, symbols and words glued on the wall, coming out of my head. But to do that I would have to stand very close to the wall, and I wanted at least a little bit of shallow depth of field. So I decided to use photoshop instead to insert the pictures. I inserted both words and pictures, but it looked too messy, and I didn’t really like it. I decided that it would look better with only words. So that is what I did.

It was really a challenge to take the picture, because I had to take the picture myself! I put my camera on a tripod and then asked my dad to sit by the wall (the same place where I was going to sit) so I could make the camera focus on him. Then I pressed the button, and I set the timer on 10 sec. I ran to the stool and sat down. And CLICK the picture was taken. I did the same thing over and over again until I got a picture I liked.

The picture represents me, since it is a self portrait. It can be hard to take a picture that really represents yourself and maybe you are not sure of who you are yet. But I see myself as a happy person. And even when I am sad, I try to smile and make the situation better. I love making other people happy, and I hate being sad. I am a very social, outgoing and energetic person. I love music, dance and photography. And that is what the picture represents.

The picture represents me, who I am and how I see myself.

The picture represents Emmie, and some of the things going on in her head.
