Several details drew me to choose Julieanne Kost. While I was reading her biography, I learned that her parents were the inspiration to her photography. As her dad did, my father as well was a photography buff. He always had the latest gear and a camera in his hand. After I was grown with children of my own, I converted a tiny portion of my laundry room into a compact, black and white dark room.

Ms. Kost creates her images from being inspired through her own vision. Being a person who is new to the idea of digital photography, that is something that is an evolution of process for me. Like Julieanne, whether it be photography, computer techologies, or motorcycling, I have tried, throughout my life, to remain current with technological advances. Julieanne Kost sees both the computer and digital darkroom concepts as tools that offer more options and lets photographers be more creative.

Ms. Kost is a visionary photographer whose unique style is one that reflects her mastery of adobe photo shop, her psychology background and her ability to see and capture through photography subjects which are things and images that we all see in our everyday life. She portrays these subjects through her eyes as they might look combined together with patterns and textures that occur naturally and inspirationally. She encourages photographers not to get tangled up in the little things, i.e., pixels and dots per inch, but to see and be inspired by the big picture. She is truly a person with a "I wish I had" job.

The photograph I have submitted is a combination of 3 photos, my granddaughter, an old house, and cattails. Don't ask me why I chose those items, but I like the combination.Since taking the digital photography courses, my eyes have been opened regarding the innovative, technological advances and ever changing world of digital photography and digital processing. It would take more than a page to explain how inspirational the instructors and the young people in this course habe been to me. I, like Ms. Kost, am inspired by the passion that the students in this course have for their craft. This course has challanged me to continue with this creative process.
