A 40 storey tall tower rises above on of the old dilapidated section of the city. The debate continues as to whether the city should preserve its crumbling 'heritage' and also force people to live in slums or whether it should build highrise towers and multi storey buildings to replace the slums and colllapsing buildings. The city has to build the infrastructure to support such massive housing re-development. How would fire engines even reach the building in the picture? The multiplicity of people with their own agendas ranging from politicans, babus, municipal workers, socialists, environmentalists, ngos, town planners, architects, builders are arguing constantly about what they think the city should be. Arguments, litigations and debates are fine but when will they reach a compromise plan and stick to it? Time is flying by as indecisons or wrong decisons are only hastening the process of slumification.
