Jumping Spider (#1)
I've had a Canon 100mm 2.8L IS for a long time and decided to purchase some extension tubes to get closer to some smaller subjects. I found this little critter on the bathroom window-sill and thought he'd be good for testing things out.
I went 'all-in' and ended up adding all three extension tubes (36mm, 20mm and 12mm) - 'finding' the spider in the frame and focussing on him before he jumped away was quite a challenge. The spider was about 5mm long and I spent quite a lot of time thinking I'd lost him, then trying to get him back onto the leaf, where I wanted to photograph him!
To be honest, I don't think there was much method or know-how that went into this picture - I decided to go for the maximum magnification available and see what happened - I'm pleased with the result and looking forward to developing my techniques a bit more!!
